UPDATE HBS EMERGENCY POWER PLANT

Thanks to concerted efforts of all involved, we were able to use our credit lines to purchase, ship and load the emergency electrical equipment (see final list below) in a 20' shipping container headed to HBS Haiti. We were also able to load the last couple months supply of donations that we had in storage here. The ship departed over the weekend and the container was unloaded on the docks in Cap Haitian on Tuesday, 02 December. Now we are awaiting its removal from customs and transfer overland to Limbe.

Our next task is to unload the container and then lift it off the chassis and place it in the southern end of the HBS yard to serve as a temporary power plant enclosure. The two new generators will be bolted in place and switches mounted on the walls. We will move the undamaged fuel tanks from the old power plant to here with two above ground and one underground. The facility will be set up for automatic operation switching between the new generators and EDH (local utility) when we can get stable, dependable voltages from them.

Our primary lines are to be rewired with new wooden poles and a new transformer bank. This new wiring system will be sufficiently protected and will be carried out as an extended HBS project.

Thank you all, for your concerns, prayers and financial aid to help HBS overcome this crisis. We will continue to update you as we make progress.
